![]() ![]() ![]() Because it's a free experience, it's hard to complain, but owning a PSVR I recently got the chance to play a free experience promoting the "The Last Guardian". Halo is an iconic video game brand and frankly deserved something a little better. I now rate this up there close to Skyrim for my most anticipated VR games.Ī full Halo game has not been confirmed but I saw a clip of the CEO of 343 Industries talking in Altspace about Halo and she seem to indicate they were working on a full game. If the full game feels this solid and polished it should be a killer of a game. Just focus on gunplay and not on the fact you’re only shooting targets on a 2D screen. Often holding and firing a gun in VR feels awkward and disconnected but not with this. The gunplay, as short as it, is the best I’ve felt in VR yet. Maybe it is because it is native or has so little going on that efficient programming was easy but I’m really impressed with how solid, smooth and accurate the mechanics are. It is not a game, it is a 10 minute tease to whet our appetites about the possibility of a full Halo VR game and in this respect it hits the mark. To judge it as a game is missing the point. I decided to give it a spin last night and my take on this app is completely different. I didn’t try actually starting a game though so I don’t know if the cursor position issue will persist within a game or if it’s just the main menu screens that are bugged. After seeing several VR talking heads dump all over it, I had never bothered to download Halo Recruit. For example, to click Additional Content from the main menu, I have to hover my cursor over the Tutorial button which sits right above the Additional Content button.Īlso from the Create Game screen all the leader names are missing from the leader selection drop-down. However, now that I can launch the game, the UI has an issue where my cursor visually appears in a given spot on the screen and I can move the cursor around but I can only click things that are a little bit below where the cursor appears to be. I was able to launch the game after duplicating the Civilization VI app file, replacing the original app file with the duplicate, and removing “copy” from the duplicate file name. I had this issue as well playing through Steam on Mac. ![]()
